Rich Russians are returning to the United States

The Return of the Rich Russians

Last year Vladimir Putin invaded Crimea in the Ukraine, creating a lot of hassle for wealthy Russians across the globe. The economic upheaval caused by this bold political move, along with the slump in the oil industry has caused an enormous commotion in the lives of some of the richest Russians. Not to mention the lives of those who benefit from their outrageous spending. The problems stretched so far that even the US property market started feeling the strain.

United States Back Hip and Happening with Rich Russians

Although Russian real estate investment in the US seemed to have come to a grinding halt over the past year, things are fast returning to normal, especially thanks to one lady. Galina Anisimova is a pioneer of the grand return of the Russians to New York. The ex-wife of Russian billionaire property mogul Vasily Anisimova recently forked out US$20.1 million for an apartment. The 4,711 square foot residence is located at Carlton House on East 61st street, and has four large bedrooms and five bathrooms. Galina also owns a mansion in Mill Basin, Brooklyn and has been a resident of the US for many years.

Not all the Rich Russians Left New York

Galina and Vasily Anisimova’s daughter Anna Anisimova is a well-known socialite nicknamed the ‘Russian-American Paris Hilton’ in the media. Young Anisimova also owns New York property — a penthouse at the Time Warner Center with an estimated value of around US$50 million. Potash tycoon and Russian billionaire Dmitry Rybolovlev’s daughter Ekaterina is another socialite who owns one of the most expensive units ever sold in New York at US$88 million. Russian television mogul Igor Malashenko owns a 4,000 foot apartment boasting handcrafted solid Breche Violette marble finishes and excellent views.

The List Goes on

Many of the super wealthy Russians are holding on to their apartments in the US. Russian Princess Kristina Kovalenko owns an apartment filled with glittering chandeliers and no less than three baby grand pianos. Although it was up for sale for some time it was recently taken off the market. Could it be that the rich Russian Princess has found a buyer? Or has she also had a change of heart about the United States?
